The first day of the year

Yesterday (back in 2011) I posted about the year that was. The highs and lows. Since then, night has fallen and the sun rose on a new year. Today I would like to look ahead, to imagine the year to come. Not resolutions as such, but dreams and direction for 2012.

At 31 December 2012, I hope the following has happened:

Big Picture
-I hope poverty in NZ has started to be properly addressed by the government, in a serious systematic and long term way.
-I want to have ideas or schemes to help people in need in my community. Either new ideas, or being able to help those who already have great plans

University
-I will finish my degree

Health

-I want to lose a bit of tummy weight so I stop getting asked if I am pregnant
-I want to learn to eat the right amount and the right foods to keep me at a constant and healthy weight - not too low and not too high.
-I want to start to get fit again.

God
-I want to spend more time with God

Marriage

-I want to cement our marriages foundations and become a less selfish wife

Finance
-I would like us to be able to save enough money for an overseas trip to Europe
-And to start proper budgeting and stick to it

I won't call these resolutions, as they are all things that have been on my mind for a while. But by writing them here, I have clarified a direction for myself, so I don't keep 'wandering' from day to day. A little direction helps us all I think! Living life with no direction and just keeping on keeping on is so easy, but doesn't lead us anywhere purposeful.

What do you have planned for 2012?

  1. Good luck Jenn! I'm also against calling my goals "new years resolutions". I have a bunch of goals I want to focus on all year, rather than just at the beginning.
